This is my day 2 pic of 100 of things that make me happy. I love Saturday mornings at the Charlotte Farmer’s Market. Not the one on Kings Road, but the big one out by the airport. It has 4 buildings – one is a “craft” building which I have never been inside and most likely, never will. There is a “greenery building” where I got some lettuce plants today. It is a bit slow this time of year – in the spring and early summer, it is crazy busy with plants and summer garden plants. Today I scored some Silver Queen corn which comes from the NC mountain area, a dozen farm eggs and a gorgeous bunch of flowers which I took to my friend Julie because we went to a brunch at her house after the market. My very favorite thing is to either get a coffee there or take a coffee from home and get a half dozen mini-donuts covered in cinnamon sugar from the cute little “fresh donuts” booth and drink the coffee and eat the donuts while walking through the market perusing whatever is on sale. It is great fun – there are veggies of every sort, fruits, eggs, all sorts of meat, cheeses, herbs and greens, flowers, honey, jams and jellies, breads, bakery goods – you name it, you can find it in a booth somewhere out there. It is a great cross section of humanity there as well. All sorts of people, all ages, it is a fascinating place to be. The aforementioned Kings Road farmers market is great also – it is open on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. It is not as interesting from a people perspective – it tends to be the little white-bread Myers Park crowd on Saturdays. It also doesn’t have quite as much stuff, but I will definitely go there in a pinch – especially on Tuesday mornings on the way home from the gym. Anyway – this is my day 2 pic of #100happydays – there really are things about Charlotte that make me happy!
